Daniel 3:16-18 (NIV)This is amazing faith, to serve God for who He is regardless of the outcome. To trust that God can rescue if He desires, but to not presume upon His will. To do what is right knowing it may cost your life. To believe in God at all cost. The Hebrews knew that God is always worth it. This is amazing faith.
“O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”
Is this perhaps the difference between worshiping God for who He is versus worshiping God for how he benefits you?
